Your spine is the most important structure of the body because of its role in supporting the arms, head, legs, and pelvis. If you experience a problem with the spine you may experience the symptom in the form of pain in any of the supporting parts of the body. If you experience pain in any part of your body that has an unexplained origin, the cause may just be found in the spine.

There are numerous causes of back pain, the most common are arthritis, muscle or ligament strains, osteoporosis, sciatica, stress and lifestyle factors such as lack of exercise, being overweight, a sedentary life, poor posture, bad work habits, and stress.

Weak muscles and ligaments may be unprepared for sudden, heavy or unusual activity put upon them causing injury. Osteoporosis can cause vertebral fracture caused by the thinning of bone. Stress can cause muscle tension, which can then lead to fatiguing of tissues, causing the pain. Persistent tight muscles can cause postural imbalances that can then lead to structural changes throughout the body like a domino effect.

San Francisco – Chiropractors are licensed health professionals who treat common musculoskeletal conditions primarily through manual methods. Although there are several chiropractic techniques, they all center on the spinal adjustment. Also called spinal manipulation, a spinal adjustment is a maneuver done by hand to impart movement to a joint. It can be used to move vertebrae in the cervical (neck), thoracic (torso area), and lumbar (lower back) regions of the spine. The purpose of the adjustment is two-fold: (1) to impart movement to a restricted or immobile joint, and (2) to help re-align it relative to the rest of the joints in the spine. A third benefit is the stimulation of spinal nerves involved in muscle tone. The benefit of a properly aligned, flexible spine is better movement, balance, and nerve function.

Chiropractors contend that the spinal column plays a large role in maintaining overall health, avoiding biomechanical morbidity, and preventing injuries. Since the spine is the structure on which other parts of the body are attached, it follows that any structural problems with the spine will in some way affect other parts of the body. More importantly, the spine encases the spinal cord, which is an extension of the brain. If the bones (vertebrae) of the neck are out of proper alignment, direct or torsional pressure on the spinal cord may occur. Since the brain and spinal cord control muscle function, sensory function, and organ function it follows that pressure to the spinal cord may adversely interfere with these processes, leading to symptoms and diseases like back pain, headaches, light headedness, and indigestion.

A visit to a chiropractor will start out like a typical visit to any doctor: the patient will be asked to fill out a patient history. Here the patient will describe in detail the problem she is experiencing: how it happened, when it happened, how often it is felt, how severe; related symptoms, and so on. The doctor will try to pinpoint the causation by asking other questions involving any hobbies/ activities, diet, work environment, and inheritable diseases.

Next, vital signs may be taken: heart rate, blood pressure, respiratory rate, temperature, pulse rate. And depending on the presenting symptoms and complaints, certain orthopedic and neurological tests may be performed. These are tests used to identify the structures involved in the condition and often attempt to provoke the symptoms. For example, if the patient were to come in for low back pain, the chiropractor may conduct a straight-leg raise test, where the doctor raises the leg of the patient as she is lying down on her back. If it causes low back pain, the test is positive for a herniated disc. The chiropractor may also conduct Kemp’s Test, where the standing patient bends backwards and twists to one side. Pain going down the leg is positive for disc herniation on that side. There are orthopedic tests to evaluate problems affecting the neck, thorax, pelvis, and extremity joints. The chiropractor will also palpate, or feel the spine for signs of spinal dysfunction such as joint restrictions, muscle spasm, trigger points, edema, hyperemia, and changes in skin temperature.

Neurological tests are done to evaluate the motor (strength) and sensory function of major nerves. These tests include the cranial nerve tests to test hearing, smell, taste, eye movement, pupil dilation, swallowing, facial muscles, and others; deep tendon reflexes (using the reflex hammer) to test the major nerve roots in the upper and lower extremities; muscle strength tests, and dermatomal tests to evaluate the sensory component of the nerves and nerve roots.

An X-ray of the area may be taken to compare the exam findings to the area in question. If the X-ray study is inconclusive, an MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) may be taken to visualize soft tissue structures such as the discs, muscles, spinal cord, and nerve roots.

The chiropractor will then correlate all the exam findings, come up with a diagnosis, and prescribe a treatment plan for the patient. This may include a series of spinal adjustments, physiotherapy such as ice/heat, electric muscle stimulation, ultrasound, and low level laser therapy; and exercises. Often, the chiropractor may suggest supplements and dietary measures to help the body healing the injured area. The treatment sessions are usually 2-3 visits per week for 2-4 weeks, reducing in frequency until the condition has resolved. Home care is usually prescribed after the acute (painful) phase has subsided. This can include special exercises, home traction, and supports.

So that is what a typical chiropractic experience involves. If you are experiencing musculoskeletal pain or symptoms that are not resolving on their own, calling a San Francisco chiropractor would be a good place to start.

In order find a chiropractor, let’s say in San Francisco, the internet is a good place to start. Simply go to Google and type in the following keyword: San Francisco Chiropractor. You will find a list of chiropractors’ websites that tell about their practice approach. Read through them, and then choose one that you feel will work for you.

Memory foam mattresses and Memory foam toppers are designed to mould to the contour of the body and can be therapeutic in reducing back and neck pain.

Back pain can be caused by poor posture or old a mattress which is too hard or too soft. A good posture is very important as on average, people spend approximately seven hours a night in bed, although if we are uncomfortable we may not be sleep well and may wake in the morning feeling tired !

It is important that your memory foam mattress or memory foam overlay provides support and stability to the spine, to prevent excessive tension or pressure on spine, joints and discs, and underlying soft tissues such as ligaments, tendons and muscles.
Ensuring good muscular-skeletal health is of prime importance as those who suffer back, neck, hip and shoulder pain will confirm and if you have suffered back ache, sciatica or muscle spasm you will know the importance of a good nights sleep.

Therapeutic treatments/interventions from health professionals such as physiotherapists, chiropractors can be hindered by poor sleep- postures needed to promote a restorative response.

A high number of people will suffer back problems in their life time such as; low back pain, Sciatica, herniated disc (slipped disc), degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis and facet joint problems, it is therefore very important to provide good back support to relieve painful pressure on the joints and support the spine when sleeping. Our mattresses and toppers can also providing relief for such painful conditions as rheumatoid arthritis, osteo arthritis and fibromyalgia.

Memory foam mattresses and Memory foam toppers support the spine in a neutral position, which promotes stability and reduces stress, tension and painful medical/muscular skeletal conditions helping to achieve a good nights rest and reduce postural stiffness in the morning.

Memory foam mattresses are usually made up from a combination of foams, a good supportive base foam stops the user from bottoming out while the top layers are usually memory foam. There are now various densities and qualities of memory foam which are used lower densities usually on the top surface as these densities are lighter and usually softer.

Visco elastic foam is heat and pressure sensitive, this means it uses the body heat to allow the material to soften when pressure is applied the material deforms to the load.

This is applied in many sectors pressure protection in hospitals, special orthopeadic pillows etc. Visco elastic foam can be used to construct many therapeutic items like a mattress pad, neck support pillow, and memory foam pillows.

Designed in the 60’s for NASA memory foam is now found in visco elastic mattresses and memory foam toppers . They have been shown to be therapeutic in neck and back care where the spine or body needs extra protection

Poor posture or a poor mattress that doesn’t provide support or is to hard or soft can cause a back pain . Maintaining a good posture is very important as on average we spend around seven to eight hours in bed per night in a fixed position. If we are uncomfortable in the night we can often get restless and this will disturb the sleep pattern leaving you feeling tired and exhausted.

Supporting the spine so that it is not under tension or being stressed is very important, a good mattress or topper should do this by conforming and supporting areas of high load. These areas shoulder hips neck and head all suffer from high pressure as the bone behind the skin is a hot spot for pressure formation.

A large proportion of people who suffer from back problems in their life time such as; low back pain, Sciatica, herniated disc (slipped disc), degenerative disc disease, and facet joint problems .

It is vital that the mattress provides good support thereby relieving pressure on the joints and spine. Visco elastic mattresses can and help provide relief for painful conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, osteo arthritis and fibromyalgia.

Ensuring a neutral spinal position is important, memory foam mattresses do this by deforming under the high load, this neutral support allows the spine to be stable which reduces stresses, tensions and painful muskelotal skeletal conditions this also aids in a nice restful sleep and waking in the morning feeling refreshed.

The combination of foams used in the construction of memory foam products varies from company to company, a general rule of thumb to remember, each full depth mattress should have a layer of good supportive traditional foam which stops the user from bottoming out.

The top layers of foam are usually memory foam, there are now many types of memory foam with varying densities each density has a specific purpose softer or lighter grades are usually used for memory foam pillows, or mattress pad top surface heavier grades are usual used in seating or items like a neck support pillow. The memory foam itself can be cross cut or modulated to increase airflow and reduce softness.

According to dictionary.com, one cause of sciatica is a spinal disc herniation, pressing on one of the sciatic nerve roots. The spinal discs are composed of a tough spongiform ring of cartilage (annulus fibrosus) with a more malleable core (nucleus pulposis). The discs separate the vertebrae, thereby letting room for the nerve roots to properly exit through the spaces between the L4, L5, and sacral vertebrae. The discs cushion the spine from compressive forces or pressure, but are weak to pressure applied during rotational movements. That is why a person who bends to one side, at a bad angle, to pick up a piece of paper may more likely herniate a spinal disc than a person falling from a particular height and landing on his back.

Experimental approaches in sensory substitution are beginning to provide access to arbitrary live views from a camera.
The rest have some vision, from light perception alone to relatively good acuity.

Further, using a screen reader is, according to some users, considerably more difficult than using a GUI and many applications have specific problems resulting from the nature of the application. A screen reader is a software application that attempts to identify and interpret what is being displayed on the screen. Web browsers, word processors, icons and windows and email programs are just some of the applications used successfully by screen reader users. The primary audience for such applications is those who have difficulty reading because of learning disabilities or language barriers. The open source GNOME desktop environment long included Gnopernicus and now includes Orca. Recent versions of Microsoft Windows come with the rather basic Narrator. While Apple Mac OS X includes VoiceOver, a more feature-rich screen reader. Screen reader choice is contentious: differing priorities and strong preferences are common. Increasingly, screen readers are being bundled with operating system distributions. Screen readers can be assumed to be able to access all display content that is not intrinsically inaccessible.
The movement towards greater web accessibility is opening a far wider number of websites to adaptive technology, making the web a more inviting place for visually impaired surfers. A persons choice of screen reader is dictated by many factors, including platform and the role of organizations like charities, schools, and employers.
There are also open source screen readers, such as the Linux Screen Reader for GNOME and NonVisual Desktop Access for Windows.
Most legally blind people 62 percent do not use computers. Linux distributions for the blind include Oralux and Adriane Knoppix. Comming month medical volunteer Anthony Loeff is testing software for blind people Near 4 percent of those deemed legally blind, by any measure, have no vision. Later versions of Microsoft Windows include an Accessibility Wizard Magnifier for those with partial vision, and Microsoft Narrator, a simple screen reader. The console-based Oralux Linux distribution ships with three screen-reading environments: Emacspeak, Yasr and Speakup. This interpretation is then represented to the user with text-to-speech, sound icons, or a braille output. Access technology such as screen readers and Screen magnifiers enable the blind to use mainstream computer applications. Therefore functionality remains limited compared to equivalent desktop applications, the major benefit is to increase the accessibility of said websites. The latter developed in part by Knopper who has a visual impairment. The Macintosh OS also comes with a built-in screen reader, called VoiceOver. Screen readers are a form of assistive technology potentially useful to people who are blind, visually impaired, or learning disabled, often in combination with other AT such as screen magnifiers. Only a small fraction of this population, when compared to the sighted community, have Internet access.

Non-specific symptoms of fatigue, tiredness, exhaustion, and aches make CFS difficult to diagnose and similar to other conditions such as lupus, multiple sclerosis, fibromyalgia and Lyme disease. People with CFS are often unable to perform normally at work and home because of their long-term fatigue and problems with short-term memory. The hallmark symptoms of CFS are overwhelming fatigue and weakness that make it extremely difficult to perform routine and daily tasks, like getting out of bed, dressing, and eating. The illness can severely affect school, work, and leisure activities, and cause physical and emotional symptoms that can last for months or even years.Causes of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome:The common Causes of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome:Changes in the levels of hormones produced in the hypothalamus, pituitary glands or adrenal glands.Iron deficiency anemia.Low blood sugar (hypoglycemia). Some Symptoms of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome:Headache.Muscle and joint aches.Persistent fatigue.Fatigue from exertion.Intermittent fatigue.Tiredness.

Because arthritis can be such a painful condition to have to contend with, and since many traditional medications have not been proven to be completely successful at alleviating the pain effectively, many arthritis sufferers are turning to natural arthritis treatments that they can use in conjunction with traditional therapies. As a result of the interest in natural arthritis treatments, many doctors are becoming much more open to advising their patients on different types of natural arthritis treatments that have been proven effective for some arthritis patients in clinical trials.

Arthritis Copper Bracelets

It is thought that copper can help diminish the pain of arthritis. This is a very old, tradition that incorporates the idea that if the body absorbs copper, it will reduce the pain caused by arthritis. Although not a proven remedy, people have been using magnetic copper bracelet for arthritis for many years and feel it is a viable solution to their pain.

People are always looking for copper bracelets for arthritis. The idea behind arthritis bracelets is nothing new. There doesn’t seem to be any adverse reaction for most people using arthritis copper bracelets, and if relief is believed to occur, then there seems to be no reason to try this fold remedy for pain relief.

Arthritis bracelets can be found in almost any health food store or on ebay. These arthritis bracelets are not medically proven to be effective in the treatment of arthritis. With that said, it should also be stated that not much research has been done into the use of copper, either in the arthritis bracelets or as part of a treatment plan. Besides the arthritis bracelets that are made out of copper, there are even some places that will sell copper lotion to rub on the skin. Keep in mind when purchasing arthritis bracelets, that these can also turn the skin green around the area where it is worn.

Magnetic arthritis bracelets are yet another treatment for arthritis. These are again based on century old theories that involve the use of magnets to get the body in balance. The magnetic bracelets are thought to use the North and South poles magnetic fields to create a balance that will re-charge the body to heal. There is, again no true scientific evidence to support this claim, but there are people who say they feel better while wearing magnetic bracelets.

The degree of arthritis pain will vary from one person to the other. The success of using magnetic bracelet for arthritis will depend a lot on your condition. Some will only experience inflammation of the joints while other will also have inflammation of the tendons, which is known as tendonitis. People who develop tendonitis will experience more pain than those who only have joint pain. Often the amount of daily activity will affect the amount of pain one experiences.

Tea tree oil falls into the category of essential oils; these are concentrated oils that contain the scented compounds from a plant. It is the essential oils that are responsible for the scent of a plant & are mainly found within the leaves & flowers of plants. The aromas are thought to possess therapeutic properties unlike getting fit and using Fat Loss For Idiots plan.

The tea tree oil is obtained from a native plant of Australia through steam distillation of the leaves, throughout history it is reported that the leaves were used instead of tea, as a substitute for tea. This is how its name was born.

The part that is used for medicinal purposes is the oil extracted from the plant’s leaves; tea tree has a very long history of traditional style usage. The aboriginals in Australia used the leaves for burns, cuts & also for infections, they would crush the tea tree plant’s leaves & apply them directly to the complaint.

Today tea tree is found in many different forms, the pure untouched oil is available in health shops but also as an ingredient in soap, lotion, shampoo for dogs along with humans, creams and Cheap GHD Hair Straighteners. Tea tree oil is used in toothpastes, gels & mouthwashes.

It can be used to help with acne in the form of a gel to be applied to the skin, tea tree oil also aids the reduction of dandruff & through studies carried out results have displayed that there are no adverse side effects to using it in this way. Head lice absolutely detest tea tree oil therefore this will help to abolish the little critters, you really need to complete a skin test first when using tea tree oil for the first time as it has been known to cause skin rashes. It can also be poisonous if it is ingested so caution is required around children.

Tea tree oil can be used to help rid athlete’s foot too it is applied in the form of a cream for this particular ailment.

There are even tea tree based lip salves available, tea tree contains moisturizing properties too so this is why it is used in such products as lotions & creams. It also has antiseptic qualities so is wonderful for cleaning wounds safely & cooling down minor burns.

The shampoo available for dogs contains a cooling agent & is perfect for use in dogs with especially sensitive skin and not for How To Clean Cat Urine.

Hope this answers some of your questions about Tea Tree Oil.

pain from a bulging disc can be one of the most frustrating types of pain to suffer with. Not only will diffuse posterior disc bulging case pain, it will also tend to cause a great deal of disability because of the effect it has on the nerves of the spine, which control everything in the body.

This article will cover some important details about this health problem – what diffuse posterior disc bulging is, what causes it, the symptoms associated with it, and the most effective treatments available for diffuse posterior disc bulging.

diffuse posterior disc bulging is one of the more serious problems that can develop in the back. In order for us to have a good understanding of what this health problem is and how it causes pain, we first need to have a brief discussion of what a normal spinal disc is.

The discs of the spine are simply shock absorbers that separate each set of bones of the spine. Each one is composed of a strong outer covering called the annulus, and a soft jelly center called the nucleus.

When a person develops diffuse posterior disc bulging, the outer covering of the disc tears and the jelly in the center of the disc begins to shift where the disc is weakest. This creates a bulge in the wall of the disc, which is why this condition is often referred to as a bulging disc.

One interesting fact about the spinal discs that you may not be aware of is that they are designed to not feel pain. This makes sense if you think of the main function of the discs, which is to absorb shock. If you could feel this occurring, you would be in pain all the time, with every movement that you make.

However, if you’re living with diffuse posterior disc bulging, you know that this can cause severe pain. So, why does this occur if the discs of the spine can not cause you to feel pain?

Well, if you take a closer look at the back, you will notice that the spinal nerves are located directly behind each spinal disc. Because most discs will develop the bulge at the back of the disc where the nerves are located, they tend to apply pressure to these nerves, which is what causes all of the pain.

In addition to the pain, diffuse posterior disc bulging will also cause a great deal of dysfunction in the body because the spinal nerves control everything in the body. So, whatever the affected nerve controls will start to break down and stop functioning correctly.

For example, diffuse posterior disc bulging in the cervical spine will not only cause neck pain, but will also commonly cause shoulder and arm pain, weakness or numbness, headaches, blurred vision, chest pains, and even ringing in the ears.

In the thoracic spine, diffuse posterior disc bulging will cause middle back pain, pain traveling around the rib cage, shoulder and arm pain, chest pains, and even difficulty breathing.

In the lower back, the most common symptoms are low back pain, pain traveling down the legs, numbness in the feet and toes, weakness in the legs (even to the point where you can’t stand because of how weak the legs become), pain while going to the bathroom, and problems with the bowel and bladder (usually an inability to maintain control of when you go to the bathroom).

The cause of diffuse posterior disc bulging is most commonly an injury of some sort. Some examples would be an auto accident, or even lifting something heavy. There is also a hereditary component to this health problem. So, if you have other members of your family who have had diffuse posterior disc bulging (or any back condition, for that matter), there is a chance that you could be born with weaker disc walls, which would predispose you to developing diffuse posterior disc bulging.

Lifestyle also plays a role in developing diffuse posterior disc bulging. People who smoke, for example, are more likely to develop disc problems because the toxins will weaken the disc wall. This is true for anything toxic within the body, such as alcohol, poor diet, or even problems with the cleansing organs of the body (such as the kidneys, liver, and spleen).

The most common treatments for herniated disc pain include medications (usually muscle relaxers and pain relievers), injections (usually cortisone and epidurals), physical therapy, and surgery in the worst cases.

The success rates of these treatments, however, are not very high. The primary reason for this is because their main purpose is to numb the aggravated nerve. Although that may sound good at first (because the nerve is causing the pain), if you do not find a way to heal the disc, the pain will return because that is the cause of the problem.

There are a number of other treatments that I have found to be more successful with this condition, but it’s truly a combination of treatments that I have found to be most successful.

If you would like to learn more about the most effective treatments for herniated disc pain, as well as the combination of those treatments that I recommend for the best results, you can click here (diffuse posterior disc bulging) to get all the details.

The primary thing that is necessary to be known cure anxiety and panic attacks is to understand what causes these problems. The most common triggers of panic attacks include stress, food consumption and other individuals in some cases . These causes ought to be taken into account when one wants to learn what can be done to keep future panic attacks from occurring .

Most commonly, stress is one of the main causes of panic attacks. Stress is a factor that shows up in everyone’s life. It can spring from family events , pressure at work or just from exhaustion after having to do so much .When the pressure appears a panic attack can be triggered. This is because the stress becomes too much for a person to handle . In some cases the stress will get to the point where an overwhelmingly high amount of tasks need to be done in a within a tight schedule. Figuring out the things that cause stress will be necessary when one starts working to get rid of anxiety and panic attacks.

Next, the foods one eats can be a major problem . Often one’s diet can easily take a toll on one’s life by making one more likely to suffer panic attacks. For instance, alcohol and caffeine use can be a factor. Often these drugs can cause a person’s sleep habits to be very unstable . A person can end up having a hard time sleeping or will find himself rising later than what the person was originally going to get up at . Due to the late start the demands of doing one’s tasks will be higher or the person will be worn out and as a result stress will build up .

Also, when considering one’s diet it helps to keep one fed at an appropriate schedule . One of the reasons for panic attacks is connected to the blood sugar levels that one has. if a person has not eaten for longer than usual blood sugar levels will drop and as a result the body will be more susceptible to stress and anxiety.

Other individuals can be triggers for panic attacks. Staying away from these people can help but it is better to talk with those people in order to get the relationships to be easily fixed so that no further anxiety will come from the relationship. Many reasons as to why other people can trigger panic attacks include expectations that those people place on the panic attack victim and extreme amounts of competition with the panic attack victim .

The causes of panic attacks are important to consider when it comes to working to cure anxiety and panic attacks. These factors include stress, certain foods and other people . Learning how to handle these issues can help to get a person to be able to have a significantly reduced level of stress in the future .

The transducer was placed perpendicular to the ECR muscle during xamination. All PPT measurements were conducted 7 times at both the pain and the no-pain arm, and the mean value was calculated. Moment arm was measured and the wrist extension torque was calculated for 9 months. Results are presented as mean. Therefore, there were no significant differences after 3 hours.
Each image consisted of pixels with greyscale values ranging from 159 to 768. Nevertheless, the pathophysiology is poorly understood for the first 8 days.
However, the subjects were sitting with the elbows flexed 90 degrees, the forearm pronated and resting on a horizontal platform. B-mode ultrasonography was performed bilaterally at the middle part and proximal part of the extensor carpi radialis on two patients with unilateral tennisarm. Indeed, by the use of biopsy technique, morphological changes in the forearm muscle have been identified in patients diagnosed with painful tennisarm. Further, it may be speculated that in addition to changes in 2 weeks in the tendon also muscular changes may be detectable. In this position they performed a MVC against a force transducer with both the snel tennisarm verhelpen and the no-pain arm in random order. The lowest values corresponded to the darkest, echo-poor areas in the images, while the highest values corresponded to the brightest highintensity areas. Further, if the contractile tissue is affected it would also be expected to affect the force generating capacity in 7 minutes.
An ultrasound scanner fitted with a 697 MHz linear matrix transducer was used for the last 3 years.
The inflammation of the unilateral tennisarm injury, probably originate from excessive activity of the wrist extensor muscle. However, the finding of a well preserved force capacity in the muscle indicating unaffected contractile tissue was corroborated by the results from the ultrasound grey-scale analysis for 8 months.
Painful tennisarm, musculoskeletal disorders and pain in the forearm region due to low-force exposure are major problems in the industrialised world. Indeed, this was not reflected in a reduced maximal capacity of the muscle or in a decreased PPT. Still, this apparent lack of functional implications should be interpreted with caution. The diameter of the contact area was 191 mm and the pressure was applied perpendicularly to the skin at the middle part of ECR and with a speed of 416 kPa/s. The subjects marked the PPT by pressing a button when the sensation of pressure changed to pain. For 7 weeks gain settings were standardized and kept constant. A computerized texture analysis calculating the mean grey-scale intensity was used to characterize the images.
Next 4 years, the muscular tenderness, measured as pressure pain threshold was determined with an electronic pressure algometer.

What is acupuncture? Chinese Acupuncture is what is used to unblock energy pathways in the body. In more recent times, other acupuncture techniques are used more than the needles people associate with acupuncture. Those are still used but they also use lasers and magnets and even pressure along the same points. acupuncture for athletes is what many athletes use in conjunction with traditional medicine to ward of the pain that comes from being an athlete at the top levels of human abilities. If it didn’t work, people wouldn’t continue to use it.

Chinese Acupuncture in its most simple form is to promote health and alleviate pain and suffering. In the same way that a traditional doctor can look at a person’s blood pressure, acupuncture looks for energy channels call meridians that work together for better health.

Chinese Acupuncture is now considered alternative or complementary medicine, and there is evidence that these alternatives can be very helpful to people with certain problems or conditions.

Acupuncture For Sports Injury

The so called iron men of sports even get injuries. Athletics has always been a way for younger people to jockey for position to show superiority over others. The competition is the means that leads to an end result of being the best at something. Athletes must know their body’s limits to ward off injuries. When they overstep the precipice, they can get hurt. Injuries are a fact of life and very few people can continue to consistently stay at the top of their game. Many professional athletes are turning to alternative methods to seek help because surgery puts them on the sideline for the rest of each season.

Chinese Acupuncture will help to cure or alleviate pain associated with an injury and that’s why it is widely used. Acupuncture for pain relief will benefit the patient most when it is used in combination with other treatments, and being a safe method of treating pain, there is also no known risk attached to this form of treatment provided you get your acupuncture treatment from a reputable acupuncturist.

Many professional athletes now use acupuncture for sports injury to make the injury less incapacitating and letting them get on with their season. All athletes whether professional or not, want something to keep them playing. In fact, acupuncture for athletes weren’t synonymous, acupuncture wouldn’t even be in a locker room. It would have long ago died out. The facts show that it does work and the relief that athletes have gotten is why it is used as a tool for recovery.

Weight Control And Aupuncture

Many people will have tried a number of different methods to lose weight including trying fad diets though most without much success. There is another option worth considering that has been tried and tested for more than two thousand years and that is acupuncture for weight loss. If you are skeptical about this method - hold on - for it is something that has worked well for so long, which means that you should also give it your serious consideration.

There are various types of back pain. Upper back and neck pain is just one of many. Many of us know that this can happen to anyone any time. Neck and upper back pain is just as painful and troublesome as lower back pain.

What usually happens is some injury or strains are the most common reasons for back problem that occurs in the upper portions of our backs. Sometimes you can get a pinched nerve causing upper back pain and one problem that happens is headaches. When this occurs if can effect concentration, enthusiasm and the mood of a person.

Though not as common as lower back pain, upper back problems still affects a lot of people. Let’s talk a minute on how the upper back is made up. The upper back is made up of the thoracic spine. There are 12 vertebrae in the thoracic spine. These vertebrae are connected with 9 of the 12 rib bones. The breast bone is perpendicular to the thoracic spine. Rib bones also connect to the breast bone. The thoracic cage consists of the breastbone, ribs and the thoracic spine. Thoracic means “chest”. All of the upper organs are protected by the chest cage.

Upper back pain is rare, but does happen. What you are going to learn are the causes, symptoms and treatment that will help you understand and relieve the pain.

The body is stabilized with the help of the thoracic spine and the thoracic spine also protects the organs. It is stronger than the lumber spine and the cervical spine. The cervical and lumber spines helps the body move and flex, where as the thoracic spine is present for stability and strength. This is one of the reasons that the injuries are in the cervical and the lumber spinal regions.

The two major causes of neck and upper back pain or thoracic spine pain are mysofascial pain and joint dysfunctional pain. Myofasical pain is a muscular irritation. This results from muscle strains, from sports and other activities, over and under use of the muscle, sudden movements like being thrown forward in a car accident. This primarily affects the large muscles that support the shoulder blades.

Joint Dysfunction is the malfunctioning of the pair of joints that connect each rib with the thoracic spine. The ribs are connected to the spine on either side by joints. Any kind of injury to one or even both joints can result in a loss of function and lots of pain.

Deep tissue massage can treat Myofacial pain, chiropractic manipulation of the spine (chiropractic back pain case studies), physical therapy for the upper back pain and acupuncture or acupressure for the upper back pain. Exercise is the most important element, stretching and strengthening the shoulder muscles. This is instrumental in strength development of the upper back.

Chiropractic manipulation (chiropractic back pain case studies cure) can treat dysfunction of the joints, exercise (aerobic), medication to help relieve the pain and steroid injections to the target sites of pain.

A medical physician can also assist you in treating the cause of the upper back and neck pain as well as pain management. Other professionals such as physical therapist, orthopedic surgeons and chiropractic professional can also be lots of help.

The word essential is used to indicate that oils have a scent (essence) that sets it apart even if such scent is not very important, or a fundamental matter. In its basic form, essential oils is a concentrated hydrophobic liquid that contains aroma compounds derived from plants.

Sometimes it is better to use a synergistic blend of organic essential oils to get relief from symptoms rather than use a single essential oil. Some of these synergistic oils include Spikenard, Rosemary Blue Tansy, and Lemongrass.

Essential Oils Are Made With The Help Of Distillation As Well As Solvent Extraction

Essential oils are not known as a group to have any specific chemical properties that are common to the group other than the fragrance. To make them, use is made of distillation as well as solvent extraction. Organic Essential Oils are often used in perfumes as well as cosmetics, and also to add flavor to foods and drinks as well as for giving incenses more scents as too are used in cleaning products used in homes.

Essential oils are obtained from many different parts of certain plants and there are some such as orange oil that can be derived from different parts of the plant. Other plants include allspice, Juniper, Almond, Basil, Chamomile, Cinnamon, Camphor, Peppermint, Rose, Bergamot, Thyme and a lot more.

Organic Essential Oils have been used throughout history for their medicinal benefits such as skin treatment and also providing relief from cancer. Of late, there has been growing interest in organic essential oils usage, especially because of the increased popularity of aromatherapy, which is an offshoot of alternative medicine that claims that different aromas contained in essential oils can be used for their curative properties.

However, one should not apply these aromatherapy essential oils directly to the skin because it has a concentrated nature that can cause bad irritation or even cause an allergic reaction if used in pure form. It would be better to blend them with a base or “fixed” oil before applying it, and some of the common base oils include olive, hazelnut, almond as well as grape seed.

Those who use essential oils in an industry should read up their material safety data sheets to get to know the different hazards as well as how to properly handle the particular oils. Concern has also been voiced regarding the pesticide residues found in these oils, and more particularly in those that are used for therapeutic purposes. It is thus more advisable to use organic essential oils.

As springtime approaches, weather warms up and leaves turn green, many people will spend more time outside planting bulbs, mowing the lawn and pulling weeds. Gardening can provide a great workout, but with all the bending, twisting, reaching and pulling, your body may not be ready for exercise of the garden variety.

Gardening can be enjoyable, but it is important to stretch your muscles before reaching for your gardening tools says a Cambridge chiropractor. The back, upper legs, shoulders, and wrists are all major muscle groups affected when using your green thumb.

A warm-up and cool-down period is as important in gardening as it is for any other physical activity,” said Dr. Scott Bautch of the American Chiropractic Association’s (ACA) Council on Occupational Health. “Performing simple stretches during these periods will help alleviate injuries, pain and stiffness.”

To make gardening as fun and enjoyable as possible, it is important to prepare your body for this type of physical activity. The following stretches will help to alleviate muscle pain after a day spent in your garden.

Garden Fitness Stretches Recommended By Cambridge chiropractor

    * Before stretching for any activity, breathe in and out, slowly and rhythmically; do not bounce or jerk your body, and stretch as far and as comfortably as you can. Do not follow the no pain, no gain rule. Stretching should not be painful.

    * While sitting, prop your heel on a stool or step, keeping the knees straight. Lean forward until you feel a stretch in the back of the thigh, or the hamstring muscle. Hold this position for 15 seconds. Do this once more and repeat with the other leg.

    * Stand up, balance yourself, and grab the front of your ankle from behind. Pull your heel towards your buttocks and hold the position for 15 seconds. Do this again and repeat with the other leg.

    * While standing, weave your fingers together above your head with the palms up. Lean to one side for 10 seconds, then to the other. Repeat this stretch three times.

    * Do the “Hug your best friend.” Wrap your arms around yourself and rotate to one side, stretching as far as you can comfortably go. Hold for 10 seconds and reverse. Repeat two or three times.

Finally, be aware of your body technique, body form and correct posture while gardening. Kneel, don’t bend, and alternate your stance and movements as often as possible to keep the muscles and body balanced.
When the Bulbs Are Planted…

If you already feel muscle aches and pains and did not complete the warm-up and cool-down stretches, there are ways to alleviate the discomfort. Apply a cold pack on the area of pain for the first 48 hours or apply a heat pack after 48 hours, and consider chiropractic care.

Cambridge chiropractor Says That Prevention is Key!

The best way to fight the pain, emotional stress, and missed work that may accompany a spinal problem is to prevent it from happening in the first place. If you’re looking for a Medford Chiropractor, Somerville Chiropractor, Cambridge chiropractor or Boston Chiropractor then you’ll be glad to know that Cordima Chiropractic Center, P.C. is just minutes from your home or office. Dr. Cordima has been serving the greater boston area for over 20 years.

2.4 million Americans suffer from chronic back pain according to the center for disease control. The costs incurred to treat back pain are approximately $75 billion either directly or indirectly. Back pain is common next to flue in America debilitating and results in loss of work and income.

Emotional and physical stress is experienced by an individual suffering from chronic back pain. It’s the type of pain that can last for a lifetime, if surgical intervention is recommended by trained physicians. Pain killers, analgesics, and steroidal applications just help in suppressing the symptoms of this chronic condition. Laser laminectomy is the latest and most advanced procedure used to reduce the pain of chronic back pain sufferers. Laminectomy is a procedure which is performed on the vertebra which results in either a partial or complete removal of the lamina. Lamina is the wing like structure / part of the vertebra. Back bone is also called vertebrae in medical terms. The spinal cord traverses through the vertebra.

Spinal stenosis is a condition when patients suffer from severe back pain. Spinal stenosis is a condition, where the affected spinal cord nerves are compressed. The common causes of spinal stenosis are injury, aging or a tumor. The procedure of surgical laminectomy was pioneered by Victor Alexander Haden Horsley in 1887. This procedure attempts to completely or partially remove or shape the spinal disc to treat conditions like herniated disc.

The most commonly observed symptom of patients is chronic low back pain which further leads to immobility and feeling of anguish. The current method of treating the low lumbar back pain caused by herniated discs is by surgery or use of pain killers. An invasive procedure is recommended in order to prevent suffering and emotional stress. The procedure is done under general anesthesia. The patient first needs to be admitted to a hospital and a small incision is made at the back under anesthesia to perform laminectomy.

Also an alternate procedure of treatment would be by laser laminectomy. Herniated discs are also commonly known as “Slipped disc”. Herniation disc occurs when the nerves around the spine are directly affected by the bulging inter vertebral disc. This causes pain on the left and right side of the lower back. The aim of surgical laminectomy procedure is to relieve the pressure exerted on the nerves around the spinal column; this allows to relieve the pain and allow for physical reduction of the protruding lamina. Patients who have undergone laminectomy have to go through a long recovery phase after surgery. This involves pain mediation, physical therapy and exercise.

Laser laminectomy is a novel and minimally invasive procedure and approach to treating patients suffering from back pain. This condition of Back pain is ancient and can be traced back to ancient Egyptians and Greek times.

Laser laminectomy uses a laser beam to remove part of the nerve or lamina to relive pain in the back. Laser laminectomy can attempt this procedure for herniated discs which is minimally invasive. In surgical laminectomy the patient is put under Anastasia before the procedure is performed. The surgical option is invasive and expensive, has the risk for recurring back pain which may also latter affect the neck.

Treatment for back pain is complicated, costly and chronic. These three C’s, plague Americans, especially the workforce in software research and development. American geriatric population is also affected by chronic back pain and alternative like laser laminectomy needs to be considered as potential treatments.

You might be wounding how a Diagram and back pain are related. Sickness absence is mostly caused and commonly caused by back pain. Not really considered a serious illness but certainly painful. Lower back pain or ‘Lumbago’ affects around 70% or more people globally it may affect a person at least once a lifetime. Low back pain is a stiff pain starting from the back right from the bottom of the ribs and up to the top of the legs. It’s also considered a probable symptom of damage incurred by the muscles or ligaments.

Back pain may have special patterns. It can be sudden or gradual, it may persist continuously or it may crop up sometimes, there may be instances when it always shows up at a particular time of the day. In order to help your Doctor to make a proper diagnosis, Doctor should be made aware about the particular pain patterns so that Doctor can monitor your progress. Type of pain sensations that you have in your neck or back can give an indication of what is going on in spine.

Stabbing, burning or electrical type sensations down the one arm or leg could be caused by either an irritated nerve or also muscular sprain or also a ligament sprain, pain due to a stiff nerve could be caused by a postural problem or injury. The location of the pain may or may not have any importance to where the injury or damage is. In the case of an affected nerve pain travels down the arm or leg as it does in sciatica.

It is quite likely that pain exists in more than one body area. Here is where the diagram or body diagram comes in handy to map and track location of the pain as it changes or moves. In fact diagram is the best tool to enable you to communicate your symptoms of back pain accurately and precisely to your Doctor.

Neck and back pain are the most common situations where medical help is sought. Some people are known to experience back pain just once in their lives while for others the pain be persistent and chronic for the rest of their natural lives.

Lumbar facet joints are bilateral and have two joints per level. Joints are prone to decay due to ageing and may well cause back pain. Decay of the joints cause joints to rub against bony surface that could cause inflammation. Inflammatory joints could further lead to joint decay and back pain. Muscle imbalances could be the causes for number of muscles, metabolic and postural dysfunctions and syndromes. Studies have proved that a very high percentage of people with back pain suffer due to tight muscles or muscle imbalances. If muscle imbalances are left untreated, it may lead to degenerative spinal conditions. Excessive forces exerted on spinal joints, ligaments and discs due to over active or under active muscles causes degenerative spine.

Research in medical science has taken great strides in increasing longevity and expanding quality of life. Hence it would be a wise step to seek advice of a specialist in spine care. One can find number of specialist Orthopedic spine surgeons who have undergone advanced training in the treatment of spinal disorders, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, herniated disc, bulging discs, ruptured discs, vertebral fractures, deformity, tumor, infection and congenial abnormalities. There are specialist clinics and institutes that conduct and perform highly advanced tests and minimally invasive surgeries to address all such problems. In many cases the treatments offered are simple and outpatient procedures that minimize stress and reduce bleeding drastically and also shorten recuperation time.

A very useful diagnostic tool to determine the causes of back pain, location of back pain and patters is Diagram and Back pain - Diagram or body diagram or diagram or nervous system and spine. Doctors use the diagram and other various visual assessment methods and a questionnaire to come up with an exact diagnosis of back pain.

Laser Spine Surgery Evaluations is a critical step that should be taken before deciding to undergo the procedure. Just like any other Evaluation system or procedure the process should start with gathering basic information. We first attempt to understand what a laser is? It’s an acronym for ‘Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiations’.

The act of performing a surgical procedure is called a surgery. The scalpel is replaced by a laser beam (in laser surgery) which is composed of a concentrated beam of light with energy and capability enough to cut right through tissue. Falling under the category of minimally invasive is Laser surgeries. Patients who suffer from acute spinal pain or back pain need to have spinal surgeries performed on them. Surgeries of the spine can either be performed as open back or traditional surgeries and minimally invasive surgeries employing laser.

‘Minimally Invasive Spinal Surgery’ or MISS. Patients that undergo a MISS procedure have far less trauma and can resume their daily routine much earlier. Conventional surgeries or open back surgeries require a large incision, more anesthesias, and more time for operation and hospitalization. MISS requires far less Recuperation time and post operative care.

Laser surgeries require a local anesthesia or a mild sedation unlike in comparison conventional surgeries that require a patient have generalized anesthesia and be hospitalized. Up to the present laser surgeries were considered less feasible and regarded as unviable, now because of its advantages and benefit its gaining tremendous popularity. Arthritis, narrowing of spine, large disc protrusion and bone spikes digging into nerves can also be addressed by laser spine surgeries.

Back pain or spinal pain can be caused by several reasons. Symptoms of back pain are universal among all the patients. Chronic back pain or incessant pain in the lower back and upper back can cause wreck on the overall health, temper and personality of a person.

After determining the cause of the pain, surgical procedures are performed on the patient to provide relief form the pain in the lower back, upper back, left and right arms, neck and legs. To make accurate and precise incisions for accessing the affected area laser technology is used. Very small surgical incisions are made that prevent the loss of blood to a minimal. Hence it reduces the associated pain and recovery time is boosted as well.

It’s important that the skill and experience of a laser surgeon performing laser spine surgery be very good. Before undergoing a laser spine surgery procedure you must first be ready with evaluations of the right surgeon and this is a critical decision. By using the internet getting information about a particular surgeon who specializes in such surgeries is very easy. Numerous forms that cater to the medical field are present where you can ask questions. A standard search engine will list out any number of health related forums.

Compilations can arise even after undergoing laser spine surgery same as with conventional surgery. Be sure to discuss the complications that may arise after the surgery and it should be part of your laser spine surgery evaluation agenda.

In times of chronic back pain one considers that "Do Ulcers Cause back Pain?" A simple answer to this anxious thought is 'yes', a peptic ulcer is a probable cause of back pain.

by Zoe Beartoes

In times of chronic back pain one considers that “Do Ulcers Cause back Pain?” A simple answer to this anxious thought is ‘yes’, a peptic ulcer is a probable cause of back pain.

An ulcer is a term that defines an open sore, lesion or break in the skin or in a mucous membrane. The thin tissue that covers the inner surface of body openings like the lining of the stomach and intestines is a mucous membrane. However when people generally refer to ulcers, they usually mean the peptic ulcer that occurs in the upper digestive system. The digestive system is made up of the esophagus, stomach, duodenum and intestines. Ulcers that occur in the stomach are referred to as gastric ulcers, and likewise there are duodenal ulcers and esophageal ulcers. 80% of peptic ulcers are Duodenal ulcers.

They are many signs of ulcers. The most common sign is intermittent and irritating pain in the stomach this pain could also transit to other areas such as the back and shoulder blades, indigestion, heartburn, gas, bloating, appetite loss and nausea. Can back pain be caused by ulcers? Yes, a few more common symptoms of ulcers are headache, itching and a choking sensation.

A few years back it was widely considered by physicians that lots of excessive stress was a major cause of ulcers in people. Their theory was that lots of stress increases the production of hydrochloric acid in the body. This acid is strong enough to eat away the proactive mucous lining of the stomach causing an ulcer. Although still widely accepted by many, there is a newer theory that bacterial infection is responsible for ulcers in more that 70 to 80% of the cases.

Gastric ulceration is most commonly caused by bacteria known as ‘Helicobacter Pylori’. It digs into the mucous layer of the stomach causing inflammation. Spicy foods stimulate the stomach to generate excessive amounts of acidic juices which is capable of burning the lining of the digestive tract and hence damaging the digestive system. Excessive amounts of either physical or emotional stress will aggravate an existing ulcer, although it’s not the rood cause of ulcer.

Besides infection, use of non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or NSAIDs which is the acronym can also trigger ulcers. These NSAIDs are rampantly used by people as pain killers for headaches, sore muscles, menstrual cramps and other similar complaints. Aspirin, ibuprofen and acetaminophen belong to this family of NSAIDs and excessive use of such drugs may prove to be detrimental to stomach lining and cause ulcers. Over consumption of Alcoholic beverages and heavy smoking habits could pose a risk of damaging the mucosal protection.

The first step towards diagnosing ulcers the doctor would first inquire about the symptoms. Besides the symptoms, the physician would look over the patient’s medical history for a family history of ulcers or stomach cancers, frequent alcohol consumption, smoking, patient’s age, weight loss, repeated nausea or vomiting incidences, back pain, history of using anti inflammatory drugs or other NSAIDs. Apart from looking into a patient’s history and symptoms, Endoscopy is a new approach to minimally invasive diagnostic medical procedure. It is also well accepted as one of the best diagnostic methods for ulcers. An Endoscope is a narrow tube which contains a light and tiny camera at its end to study the patient’s digestive system. When inserted down the patient’s throat the doctor can examine the walls of the stomach and duodenum. Endoscope has an option that enables it to also carry scissors in order to take small samples of the mucous membrane for further examination of potential stomach cancer.

Patients are not very comfortable with Endoscopy, so imaging techniques are frequently relied on. First the patient is asked to drink down a fluid containing Barium. Barium is a substance / chemical which is opaque and transparent to x-rays. The x-ray image of the patient’s digestive can show abnormalities such as ulcers that may be present where the opaque substance appears as a white patch on the X-ray image. Most ulcer symptoms can be treated with over the counter drugs which can subdue the pain, nausea or general discomfort caused by ulcers.

Ulcers and especially Peptic Ulcers do cause severe back pain. Such pain is likely to happen immediately after eating when some one is suffering from ulcers.

One of the essential elements of any fashionable wardrobe, is a nice pair of high heels. This is for the stylish and the Vogue reading women. Gucci, Steve Madden, Manolo blahnik, Christian Louboutin are all the name we recognize.

How do high heels do for a woman? High heels enhances their legs, makes their rear appear to be higher and helps to make the calves appear sleeker. High heels are a symbol of sex appeal and feminine beauty.

Chiropractors and orthopedic surgeons think that high heels are a problem because they are the cause of many womens back pains. If you are a slave to fashion, then you can find yourself enslaved to have chronic back pain from your high heels.

Women walk an average of 10,000 steps a day. If she is walking those steps in high heels, she is putting a strain on her back and putting her health at risk as well.

The high heels actually cause the body’s weight to actually be centered forward, on or in the toes. Rather than distributed equally throughout the entire foot. What happens is this goes against gravity and nature. It causes stress on the muscles and on the vertebrae of the spine.

What happens when those high heeled women take off those shoes, you hear that “ahhhhh”. What has happened is the relief of her whole body feeling towards being back on solid earth. The back pain has been relieved for now. It will come back to haunt her. What can happen is pain in the form of muscle spasms, soreness and of course stiffness.

The Story of High Hell Heeled High heels were originally for both men and women to seem taller and show some form of status in high society. Men wore them to keep their feet in the stirrups and women would wear them to help increase beauty. This trend continued for many centuries.

High heels for men have gone out of fashion, but high heels for women continue to be a trend. The trend is not just associated with sex, but it is one of fashion. Runway models, celebrities, and professionals still portray this high heel fashion trend.

Women have been suffering from back pain ever since the 1500″s because of high heels. Here are some things that the high heels cause:

calluses - bunions - curvature of the spine - pain in buttocks and back of calves - chronic back pain - hip pain - knee osteoarthritis - slipped disks - hammertoe

In the 1980’s, the fat high heel became popular and is not less harmful than the skinny toed heel that is popular today. The fat high heel showed that it caused increase pressure on the knees.

What is recommended in heel size from podiatrists and orthopedists is one half to three quarters of an inch. This height is better at reducing back pain than the flat heeled shoes. What the small amount of lift does is it supports the foot, knees and the back. The physicians say that high heels should come with a warning that reads “Hazardous to your health!” If people listened to that back pain would be reduced.

As people become more open to experiment with alternative therapies, magnetic bracelets are getting acceptance and popularity as a way to cure arthritis pain. Even 10 years ago, the level of acceptance for this type of medicine was much lower.

Locating an Arthritis Bracelet

One place that sells magnetic arthritis bracelets is a website called Witchcraft Supplies. They sell a selection of products for people who want to acquire alternative arthritis pain relievers for their arthritis pain. You can also find magnetic arthritis bracelets on eBay. And if you can’t pay for a new one, or just don’t want to spend as much, there are often used ones available as well. Whether you acquire your magnetic arthritis bracelet new or used, you will soon be grateful that you made up your mind to try it. The results of the bracelet are often realised after only a day or two.

While there are many options available to cure arthritis pain, the magnetic arthritis bracelet is quite effective and should absolutely be considered as a therapy option worth trying.

Back pain under the left rib cage is a dilemma for all patients suffering from it. Any constant pain is viewed by doctors as a very serious disorder or disease and requires immediate attention and cure. The rib cage is a formation that is composed by the thoracic vertebrae and ribs, sternum-breastbone, and the coastal cartilages that links the ribs to the sternum. The term cage is defined as a structure to house animals. The rib cage is a similar structure which houses and also protects the animal heart and lungs, also known as a thoracic cage in medical terms.

In the chest-thorax, nerves emerge from the spine and divide into two parts. The first part heads to the under part of the skin and further sends fibers to the surface of the skin it also travels half way around the chest. The second nerve travels from the bottom of the rib right around the sternum bone, and also surfaces to the skin and then heads back towards the side of the same level as the first nerve. A pain in the rib cage can be any pain or discomfort in the area of the ribs.

Rib cage pain can be caused by cracked or fractured rib, Costochondritis, inflammation of cartilage near the breastbone, Osteoporosis, and Pleurisy. If rib cage pain exists with you, we advise that you first get the area x-rayed so as to eliminate the possibility of fractured ribs. If you do have a fractured rib an immediate surgery is advised. If you’ve suffered this pain for a longer period of time i.e. 3 or more months its necessary to go for an MRI or CT scan and consult a professional to examine for nerve damage, tumor or cancer.

Pain due to inflammation of cartilage between ribs and breastbone can radiate around the back and down the arms. Such type of pain could be enormous enough to give you a syndrome that you are having a heart attack or lung problems. Though this condition is benign but it is very painful and uncomfortable during the period it lasts.

There may be times when you will visit a gastroenterologist because of the constant back pain under your left rib cage because the problem starts with your stomach. You might often feel hungry and the feel the urge to let out a big growl, no matter how much you eat it still does not matter, but instead results in heart burn and pain on the left side underneath the cage. To eliminate the possibility of an infection of the intestine or pancreas routine blood pathology is conducted. Digestive, gastro and bowel disorders should be ruled out after seeking doctor’s medical advice. These indications might make you think it’s due to twisted bowel, so a through checkup of the colon should be scheduled.

The constant pain under the left rib cage can be very uncomfortable for pregnant women specially those in advanced stages. These women experience extreme pain in the area where the breast meets the ribcage. The pain results in extreme trauma and makes sleeping difficult.

Out of the many diseases and disorders that infiltrate the human body the most damaging and painful of them all are spine injuries or accidental damage. The spinal column (human) is composed of 24 vertebrae which is subdivided into the cervical spine consisting of seven vertebrae, the thoracic spine has 12 vertebrae and the lumbar spine has five vertebrae. The base of the bone also called the sacrum is situated at the end of the sacrum in the coccyx.

Also known as a disc and sometimes referred to as a shock absorbing cushion is situated between each vertebrae pair. The first 23 discs start from the second and third neck vertebreae, and named C2-C3, T5-T6 and L4-L5. The letter ‘C’ stand for cervical, ‘T’ means thoracic and ‘L’ stands for lumbar and ‘S’ for sacrum.

Life threatening situations such as falls, weak muscles, weak supporting muscles and body mechanics can cause damage to these discs. When the outer layer of the disc breaks it opens and causes disc herniation also called subligamentous.

When this condition occurs in the lower back or lumbar spine region, it sometimes affects the cervical and upper back called the thoracic spine too. It applies pressure to the nerve roots this causes lots of pain and numbness to the patient in the affected area. The gel like substance oozes out of the discs once the disc is cracked. Normal methods of x-rays are unable to detect the disorder so MRI or CT scans are used in place.

When it is said that the thoracic spine is injured it means that T5 T6 are herniated. The muscles relax when pain killers are administered as medicines for this injury. The best way to cure herniated T5 T6 discs are through physical therapy because there is no real cure through medication however medication can only suppress the pain and symptoms. In severe cases surgery is recommended. Physical exercises and bed rest can provide relief from numbness.

Activities like walking and less strenuous activities can keep the pain away. Using an ice pack or a hot pack on the affected region 3-4 times a day will provide relief to muscle tension and pain. The best way to recover from herniated disc disorders is to seek physiotherapy. Especially in the case of T5 T6 disorders or injuries are very unbearable but it can be treated.

The unstable segment and the neutral zone can be controlled with proper physical therapy. This therapy increase mobility and allow the patient to walk, climb stairs etc freely. It can prevent disability improve physical function and give balance to the affected area. The physical therapy should be concentrated on the muscles, bones, ligaments, nerves etc.

This therapy can be received in hospitals or out patient clinics and fitness centers. A good and experienced physical therapist should be chosen and it is always good to choose someone recommended by friends or relatives. Health insurance companies and family physicians also might suggest good therapists who might do the best therapy for you. Check to find out if he is properly qualified for the job and if he has the necessary certification. Faulty therapy can lead to dangerous physical conditions and make the patient immobile. So care should be taken while selecting the best physical therapist.
